Since the release of chat.deepseek & everyone is talking about its surpassing Chat GPT o1 model performance.

Not only that but it’s also 100% free, with no limit.

So as a heavy user of chat gpt i had to try it.

And here is my comparison between DeepSeek & Chat GPT after using both as a digital marketer.

This comparison comes after excessive use of both, with an advantage to Chat GPT of course since I have been using it for over a year, & deepseek for just 10 days  or so, as the publish date of this article.

No time to read ? here is a quick comparison between DeepSeek & ChatGPT

DeepSeek vs. ChatGPT: Which is better in creating social media posts ?

The first thing that hit my was that DeepSeek doesn’t analyze images.

It only extracts text from images.

Which means I can’t just upload an image & let it do its thing as I do with chatgpt.

While with ChatGPT it can analyze images & suggest captions for posts.

And in a time it provided feedback on an image with different coloring.

Which is a huge advantage for Chat GPT no doubt.

However if you want GPT to write captions for your posts it can start repeating itself very fast, & say the same thing over & over again with different wording.

You might want to start a new chat with a different prompt to get new different captions.

Pro tip:

Add as many details like (what you do, who your audience are, what the tone of voice should be, whether it’s an engaging, salesy post or ad caption..etc.) & describe how you want your captions to be, to get the best responses as possible from the first time. And then refine the answers.

DeepSeek vs. ChatGPT for WordPress Coding

“DeepSeek is 400% better at coding than GPT.”

I know that’s a big claim to say but hear me out..

In my experience, DeepSeek delivers the right, functional code about 90% of the time on the first try with the same prompt.

After that, it usually takes just 2 more prompts to fine-tune and adjust the code exactly how I want it.

While chatgpt almost gets the code working at the 4th prompt, & there are a lot of times where I hit the free limit before getting it to actually work as I want.

ChatGPT struggles when asked to make multiple edits or adjustments to the code in the same prompt, and it often ends up breaking another part of the code in the process.

While in DeepSeek it can execute on 3 or 4 adjustments in the same prompt without ruining or changing another part of the code.

DeepSeek also has a cool feature that lets you run an HTML to see how to looks like

Translation

DeepSeek was way better than ChatGPT so far in translating content to Arabic.

Mainly For the following reasons:

1. It doesn’t change, remove or add anything of its own.

2. The language sounds more natural than GPT.

3. Doesn’t add unnecessary  stupid emojis.

4. Doesn’t change, remove, or add to your original content.

5. The Arabic translation had the same meaning in English.

I actually translated this article to Arabic with both of them through uploading the file and used the same exact prompt for both and this is what i got..

This original article in English is: 1090 Words

ChatGPT Translation to Arabic was: 666 Words

DeepSeek translation to Arabic was: 965 words.

DeepSeek version is way closer & similar to the original English version in word count.

Similar or exact meaning as in English.

And used a more natural language.

Analyzing Reports

Chat GPT seems to be better at analyzing sheets & reports Than DeepSeek.

That’s bec i find deepseek bad at math to a certain extent.

The first time it gave me a wrong sum of numbers while extracting it from a report & counting it one by one & still gave a wrong answer.

DeepSeek making up numbers that wasn't in the report & miscalculating values

And that was a sample of the response DeepSeek gave me when I asked it to calculate the sum of some numbers..

While ChatGPT simply gave the answer right away.

i don’t know about you, but, I’m definitely not count on DeepSeek in extracting  or analyze data for me. (at least for now).

ChatGPT is also better at organizing data, making tables, and visualizing it in a simple way to grasp.

DeepSeek vs Chatgpt for Topic Insights, Questions & How-Tos

When it comes to random questions & how-tos I find both are similar & for most asks they come up with the same or very similar responses leading to the same final conclusion.

However, chatgpt can be slightly better, bec. of the memory it has of you from previous chats.

I also find that DeepSeek answers are slightly longer when it comes to explaining something or suggesting approaches.

Cons & Pros of DeepSeek & ChatGPT In comparison with each other

Pros of DeepSeek in comparison with ChatGPT

1. DeepSeek is 100% Free. (Not Talking about APIs usages)

2. No Usage limit or waiting time in normal conversation that doesn’t require search.

3. DeepSeek is 400% better at coding than Chat GPT (based on my experience so far)

4. More accurate in translation and doesn’t change your content.

DeepSeek Cons

Each chat has a limit, & once you hit it, you’ll need to start a new chat.

And since it didn’t answer me I had to copy paste the whole chat in my word counter tool, to figure out.

That limit is 18,662 words or 156,443 characters. with 30 prompts.

Chat length limit was exceeded after 18,660 words with 30 prompts. I don't know how deepseek is measuring it.

1.  DeepSeek doesn’t retain memory from previous chats.

This means that if you hit the limit or want to continue in a new chat,

you’ll have to provide a quick recap of what you were working on in the last chat & pick up where you left.

2.  DeepSeek can’t analyze images or know what it is about, it can only extract text from it.

3.  DeepSeek service gets busy a lot when you enable the search feature. even if your prompts or asks don’t require search.

4. You can also expect high traffic messages like chatgpt when it started.

Pros & Cons of ChatGPT in comparison with DeepSeek

ChatGPT Pros

1.  No conversation length limit in the same chat.

2.  Can restore memory from older/previous chats in a new chat.

3.  Can Analyze Images & provide related captions & design copies.

4.  Better at visualizing data.

ChatGPT Cons

1.  The Pro Plan costs $20 & while it offers more prompts than the free plan, it still comes with usage limits, just not as restrictive as the free version.

2.  You can hit the free limit very quickly & will have to wait for a few hours to continue.

However, you can open your app & continue the conversation there.

3.  You can’t execute more than one or two adjustments  in a single prompt when it coms to coding requests.

You’ll need to request changes or edits one at a time, in order to avoid ruining or changing parts of the code.

4.  Can remove, add, or adjust your text when translating content.

I asked DeepSeek and ChatGPT to rate themselves based on the points mentioned in this article.

DeepSeek rated itself 7.5/10 and gave ChatGPT 7.2/10.
ChatGPT rated itself 8.5/10 and gave DeepSeek 7/10.

Of course there are many more use cases of deepseek & chatgpt in digital marketing,

but this article focuses on the normal day to day uses for some of the digital marketer & web designer tasks.

Hopefully I will update the article soon with more insights.

In the end They both can enhance your productivity and greatly help with tasks in combination.

And even using them at the same time to get the best results you want.
